About TSTS

Big Stories. Small runtime. Infinite possibilities.

Welcome to the Too Short to Suck Film Festival & Awards Show (TSTS), where big ideas meet short runtimes. We believe storytelling doesn’t need hours of footage to captivate an audience—just 2 minutes or less. We’re all about brevity, creativity, and innovation, and we invite filmmakers from Sullivan County and the world to share their most impactful stories. Whether you’re a pro or just getting started, TSTS makes filmmaking accessible for everyone.

Expect an exciting collection of films across genres—narrative, experimental, animation, documentary, comedy, horror, and hybrids. Then we roll out the red carpet for an awards show honoring exceptional talent in categories like cinematography, animation, weirdest premise, and more. Your film could even take home a Memmy Award.

The Rules

Big Stories. Small runtime. Infinite possibilities.

  • 1. Runtime: Films must be 2 minutes or less (120 seconds), including credits.
  • 2. Made for This Festival: Films must be created specifically for this year’s TSTS Film Festival and not previously created.
  • 3. Include “TSTS”: The letters TSTS must appear somewhere in the film (not only in the credits) or be spoken aloud. Use your creativity. TSTS can be handwritten, taped to a mirror, printed on a prop, spray-painted on a wall, hidden in production design—anything goes, as long as it appears on screen or is heard in the film.
*This rule ensures that all films are created specifically for this festival so everyone starts on equal footing. Previously produced films may have had access to outside funding or resources. Please honor the spirit of the competition and be honest with your fellow filmmakers so the playing field stays fair.
  • 4. File Format: Submit films as .MP4 or .MOV files.
  • 5. Submit Your Film: Upload your film file, film description, and crew details through the submission portal.
  • 6. Submission Fee: $20 per film, payable via Venmo @pacny or by check. The submission fee includes one ticket to the festival screening on May 30, 2026.
  • 7. Payment Note: If paying via Venmo, include your Submission ID so we can match payment to your film. If paying by check, include your Submission ID with the mailed payment.
  • 8. No A.I. Films: Films generated by A.I. are not accepted. This festival celebrates human creativity.
What we’re looking for Bold storytelling, inventive craft, and confident voice. We love films that land clean—emotionally, comedically, visually, or conceptually.
Quick gut-check If you cut 10 seconds and it gets better… keep cutting.
Tip Make it watchable on a phone, but design it to hit in a room.
